The village of Corfe Castle has commemorated numerous other royal jubilees and occasions in various lasting ways and we wanted the village to have a permanent legacy to commemorate this Diamond Jubilee as well.

We unveiled the first part of our legacy on the 2nd of June 2013. This was a diamond shape plaque in the village square:

The installation of the final part of our legacy began in September 2014. When completed there will be an entrance stone at either end of the village:

We wrote to the Queen, telling her about our legacy project and enclosing the above photos. We received the following response:

In 1897 Queen Victoria marked her Diamond Jubilee. Corfe Castle celebrated in style and erected the cross in the village square to mark the occasion.
